Movie Theater Cookies!

That title is pretty accurate but for me it is more like.. laying on my couch watching NetFlix cookies! And I am totally ok with that!

Here's the deal.... I love, love, lurve, LUUURVE, Raisinets and popcorn. They are my favorite movie snack!  I love the sweet and salty. The crunchy and the soft.... I love to put the Raisinets in right as I pull the popcorn out of the microwave. It is perfect! The chocolate on the raisins melts just a bit and then after a few handfuls they all end up at the bottom of the bowl. I would be lying if I said I didn't dig to the bottom to eat all the semi-melted Raisinets first.

Believe me, you do not want to share this snack with me!

So... last night I came across some amazing recipes. Amazing! There was one I could not resist.... Movie Theater Cookies! And yes... my kind of movie theater... Raisinets and popcorn!!

Even more exciting... the post was from a fellow Texan! A bluebonnet loving fellow Texan! She lives in Jersey now but the bottom of her blog reads "You can take the girl out of Texas, but you'll never take Texas out of the girl!"

Agreed! You should check out her site at bluebonnetsandbrownies.com. Such a cute name! And now for the recipe...

Movie Theater Cookies

You will need:

2 cups flour

1/2 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp table salt

3/4 cup butter

1 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup sugar

1 Tbsp vanilla extract

1 egg

1 egg yolk

1 cup Raisinets

1 cup popcorn (I accidentally bought the Smart Pop. I will def use regular next time!)

In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking soda and salt. Whisk together. Melt butter completely. In a large mixing bowl, using electric mixer, combine brown sugar, white sugar and melted butter. Beat in vanilla, whole egg and egg yolk. Continue beating.

Slowly add flour. Beating after ever addition.

Pop popcorn. Allow to cool then pick out any burnt pieces and visible kernels. Using your hands, break up popcorn. Try to break it away from the main kernel so it will combine easily with the cookie dough. Measure into 1 cup.

Add Raisinets and popcorn to dough and stir by hand.

So now you have your dough!!!

"B&B" suggested using an ice cream scooper to make the cookies. She also warned that the cookies spread quite a bit and to try only 4 per cookie sheet at once. (Don't mind my cookie sheet.. it's a "seasoned" Pampered Chef!)

Bake at 325 for 17-20 minutes.

They turned out great and as you can see didn't spread to bad. I went ahead and tasted one right off the pan. Yea... they are delicious.

But you all know me... I felt the urge to miniaturize these cookies. So on the next batch, instead of the ice cream scoop I used a small cookie scoop.

I baked 2 regular size just in case the smaller ones didn't turn out... it wouldn't be a waste of oven time :). Again, tasted one right off the pan. Delicious BUT could be smaller!!! So I used the small end of a melon baller for the next batch.

These are adorable already!

And adorable baked!

I ended up baking the large cookies for 20 min., the medium for 17 min. and the small for about 15 min. They really are all delicious. The small cookies get the cute factor but the large ones get the soft factor.... and the middle, they're a good mix of both!

Photo shoot!!!! Duh!

See that popcorn!?!?!?!

Nom! Nom! Nom! Nom!

Thanks bluebonnetsandbrownies.com for sharing such a great recipe!

Wow. I have never heard of anything like this but I can't go to the movies without getting popcorn and raisinets or goobers so this sounds like a great idea! Will have to make these ASAP!

Do you chill your dough before scooping?

No ma'am! I will say, if you plan on making them, the mini ones are adorable but the larger ones are softer :)
