Gender Reveal Cookies!!! Hey baby hey!

Ok... so you know how in my last post I talked about how trendy I am, and how cool people always combine two trends and then I combined two trends by making Cake Ball Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookies... and they were amazing!!!!!
Well I have figured out a way to combine that trend (which is already a double trend) with ANOTHER trend.... making it 3 trends in one and making me perhaps the most popular girl in school.... EVER!!!!
Have you heard of a Gender Reveal Party? Quite possibly the cutest theme party I have ever heard of. (I LOVE theme parties... LOVE) Anyways, let me explain this party...
First, you must be pregnant in order to have the party. Requirement.
Second, you must WANT to know the sex of that sweet little child growing in your belly.
Third, you must love parties and surprises.
Eeeeeek! So what you do is.... upon receiving your gender determining sonogram, you have the doctor write down what the sex is and put it in a SEALED envelope. The doctor must NOT tell you or your baby daddy what the sex of the child is.
Then you plan this party... depending on how long you can go without knowing.. I would literally have to have my reveal party within the next hour!!!
You give the envelope to a trusted baker... friend, family member, stranger... doesn't matter. This person will then make a cake, cupcakes, cake balls.... or my cookies!!! with the gender color HIDDEN inside.
Invite all of your friends and family to the party. Have everyone wear the color of what they think the baby will be. Girl=pink. Boy=blue. Duh!
Make lots of yummy food and play lots of fun games.... then, when the time is perfectly perfect... make everyone be quiet and pay attention to you... at the same time everyone will then partake in the gender revealing dessert.
One bite and you will see pink or blue! It's a Boy! It's Girl! Screams, squeals, tears and joy!!! You now know what your sweet little baby will be and you have all of your favorite people there to share your excitement.
I think my cookies would be the perfect Gender Reveal dessert because...
1. They are easy to make.
2. They are delicious.
and
3. You can NOT tell what is going on inside that cookie. Blue? Pink? Boy? Girl? Sir? Ma'am?

So if you did decide to have a Gender Reveal Party and you did want to use my cookie recipe... this is what you/ your trusted baker would need to do....
Basically follow the instructions from the Cake Ball Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookies.
For the cake balls you will use a white cake mix and regular food coloring.

Mix your cake as directed on the box....
Then add a few drops of food coloring to get your desired pink or blue

Bake your cake as directed then follow my step by step instructions for cake balls. I used my melon baller which was perfect size to tuck inside the cookie.

Coat your cake balls with chocolate then place in the freezer for at least 1 hr. I explained all of this in the previous post.
Once the cookies are baked and cooled a bit you will be able to bite into them and see what color is hiding inside!

I just love these cookies!!!
You really can not tell what is brewing in there...

Just like with your own little baby inside your womb. Always a surprise!!!!
I really hope someone sees this and has a Gender Reveal Party! Even if you don't use my cookies... it is such a great party idea.

Twins!?!?! Eeeeeek!!! Have fun and please send me pictures if you have a party!!!
Happy baking!!!

Clever! Your little cookies are so cute - thanks for sharing the great idea!
This is such a cute idea! How anyone can cope with the excitement of deliberately not knowing is beyond me, but having a 'gender reveal' party with these little treats could make it worthwhile!
Cute! Love the new site design!
such a cute idea!
That is one of the weirdest things I have ever heard of (the party, not your cookies). I would definitely not be the right kind of person to have a party like that. I wouldn't be able to handle the anticipation. Ya know what I mean. If you could handle it, then it is a very fun idea. Your cookies are very very creative! I still haven't tried cake balls.
The cookies are delish! I like red velvet cake balls best though.... And I would not be a great candidate for this party either!!! Just. Can't. Wait!
This is such a neat idea. If only I had a family member that was pregnant, but it definitely wouldn't be me. I am done having kiddos.
we had a gender reveal party yesterday, and i used your idea to surprise everyone! we (husband and i) found out on thursday that we are having a little girl, and we made our friends and family wait for the party to be surprised. it was so much fun, and the cake ball stuffed chocolate chip cookies were awesome!!!
Yay!!!! And congratulations! I made those cookies again last night... So yummy :)
Oh, my stinkin' heck!! These are amazingly adorable! You are not helping my baby fever at.all. BUT I hope to get to do this for a friend OR myself (you have got to be kidding me that I wouldn't know? I would make the cookies and reveal to my friends and loved ones)!! FUN! CUTE! YUMMY! Trifecta!
I am with you on this.... Im tempted to have another child just to have the party :))))
I had a gender reveal party 5 yrs ago. We called it a Bows or Bowtie BBq. Everything was decorated in pink & blue. We had 2 buckets one pink one blue and paper so everyone could put their name in to guess whether it was a girl (bows) or a boy (bowtie). We enlarged the ultrasound and revealed it at the end of the party. We then picked a name from the boy bucket and gave them a prize (we did champagne and jellybeans). everyone had a blast. It was a fun way to let everyone know what we were having at the same time.
That is adorable!!! Bows and Bowties! I'm a Texan and for whatever reason that just sounds southern and I love it!!!
Great idea! Impressive! and fun!

I was totally taken by this idea. I am by no means a baker, but I knew I had to try this for our recent gender reveal party. My husband and I already knew the gender, but we used the cookies to tell our friends and family. The cookies turned out perfectly and they tasted great! Thanks for making me look like an expert baker :) I linked my blog post about the party to your site. Thanks for sharing!

I'd make it green. just for the lulz. i love your site. i pretty much look at food porn all day at work, so i'm glad to have another site to bookmark!
Ahhahaha! Awesome. Thanks!
This will be happening. As soon as I have a child inside me. :) Cutest idea ever!
I love this idea!!!!!!! Do you think it is necessary to dip the cake balls in chocolate before putting them into the cookie? Do you think it would work sans chocolate dipped?
Honestly... I don't know! I don't know if the cake ball would stay intact during baking... Or if the color would show through.
Sorry... That's not a lot of help
Cute, cute idea! I'm like one of your other commenters. Haha tempted to have another baby just to do this lol.
I think I'm drooling!
Made these for work, and they were a HIT! Making the cake balls was very time consuming but if you follow the instructions they will turn out exactly right. I placed each one in it's own individual baggie and tied it with a small ribbon and a charm that had two baby feet on it, my friend announced her pregnancy and told people the middle of the cookie would reveal the sex of her baby. We had our co-workers eating these at 7:00 a.m. They are moist, rich, and delectable. Fantastic idea!!!!
Ok. I made these for a baby shower, I made the blue cake balls, dipped them and placed them in the freezer. I have to agree that making the cake balls is very time consuming but can be fun. I made sure to add only half of the frosting, I did not want my cake balls to taste like they were un-cooked( I have tasted some that made me feel as though I was eating raw dough) I just used it as a glue. I used a cookie scooper and that created what I thought was a perfect size! The hardest part was the dipping, it was my first time so they turned out less that perfect. Good thing they were going to be hidden inside a cookie. I mixed the cookie dough(which was such an easy and GOOD recipe) and placed my cake ball on top of the cookie and brought the dough up to the sides as far as I could and then topped it and did the same thing. I was pretty big, like the size of a tennis ball. I placed them on the cookie sheet and baked for 12-14 min. I did a half way check on them and they looked horrible, like the cookie dough was melting off and I thought that the ball was going to be exposed! I turned off the oven light and walked away and decided to let them cook the full time before I made the decision to continue or call it quits and make some cupcakes real fast! Well they turned out perfect, just like the pictures. They were soft, moist, chewy...I had people calling me left and right asking about the recipe. I would say about 8-9 people. I told them where to find it all at. Thank you for the fab idea!
Glad you looked them!!! They are questionable about half way through the process but always turn out wonderful!!!!
